The SSTDS was launched on 19 Oct 2011 with the aim of developing a pipeline of well-qualified, highly experienced and well-rounded professionals who would provide leadership for the social service sector. Nomination is now open and will close on 18 May 2012.
From April 2012, the VCF has been extended for another five years until March 2017 for member VWOs and MCYS-funded VWOs. The new VCF tranche will focus on nurturing productivity and innovation, and developing manpower resources and organisational capacities to meet increasing needs within the social service sector.
From 1 April 2012, the Government will introduce a new scheme known as the, to help Singaporean families with foreign spouses. This new scheme will provide foreign spouses of Singapore citizens who qualify with greater certainty of stay here by granting the holder a longer period of residency.
The Enabling Masterplan 2012-2016 Steering Committee submitted its report to the Acting Minister for Community Development, Youth and Sports on 21 Feb 2012, emphasising inclusiveness and enablement of persons with disabilities.
SSTI, together with NUS and the Thye Hua Kwan Moral Society, will be bringing the CIFA Symposium to Singapore. This event is supported by NCSS and will be held from 11-13 Dec 2012, with a focus on "Asian Families: Innovations in Practice and Policies". The two keynote speakers are Dr Lee Wai Yung from the University of Hong Kong, and Prof Evan Imber-Black from the Mercy College in New York. Participants can also look forward to hearing from policy-makers, experienced practitioners and academia on a wide range of topics that will help strengthen the resilience and functioning of families.
Community Silver Trust (CST)
Launched for application on 20 Oct 2011, the CST is a donation matching grant from the Government aimed at enhancing and expanding the intermediate and long-term care (ILTC) services in Singapore. NCSS is the administrator for this grant for voluntary welfare organisations (VWOs) in the social service sector. EligibleVWOs are encouraged to come up with ideas and solutions to improve the lives of the elderly and disabled.
