About the Social Service Sector
The social service sector provides services for the well-being of people, especially the disadvantaged, helping them deal with life challenges. Currently, NCSS has about 400 member VWOs offering a total of 1,800 social service programmes. The manpower in the sector has grown an average of 1-3% annually to support these programmes. Today, we have a total of about 9,3001 social service professionals who are serving the different groups of people in need.

There are diverse needs that the social service sector addresses, and opportunities are available to work with children, youth, families, people with disabilities and the elderly. Professions in demand in the sector include social workers, therapists, psychologists, special education teachers, social service assistants and administrative personnel.
