Closure of The Courage Fund Relief Schemes

SINGAPORE, 24 May 2022 – Close to 30,000 individuals who required support during the COVID-19 pandemic have benefitted from The Courage Fund (TCF). The beneficiaries included healthcare and other frontline workers who stepped up with courage in the thick of the pandemic, and lower-income households directly affected by COVID-19. Following the adjustment in Singapore’s Disease Outbreak Response System Condition (DORSCON) status on 26 April 2022, and extensive easing of community and border measures, MSF and NCSS have reviewed and will close all TCF COVID-19 relief schemes with immediate effect.Those who had been certified as COVID-positive before 24 May 2022 can still apply.

Three Memoranda of Understanding (MOU) to bolster service, data, and process transformation in the non-profit sector were signed today, between the National Council of Social Service (NCSS) and the Singapore Institute of Technology (SIT), Nanyang Polytechnic (NYP), and Singapore Polytechnic (SP) respectively. The MOU signing ceremony was witnessed by Mr Eric Chua, Senior Parliamentary Secretary (SPS) in the Ministry of Social and Family Development, and Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth, at the inaugural Transformation Showcase for Non-Profits (TSNP) organised by NCSS.

The Christmas on A Great Street Community Chest Light-Up Ceremony 2022, held on 12 November 2022 at Ngee Ann City Civic Plaza, was attended by Guest-of-Honour Madam Halimah Yacob, President of the Republic of Singapore and hosted by Minister for Social and Family Development and Second Minister for Health Masagos Zulkifli. This is the 32nd year that Community Chest, the philanthropy and engagement group of the National Council of Social Service (NCSS), has co-organised the Light-up ceremony with the Orchard Road Business Association, with the Hitachi Group of Companies as its main sponsor.
