Ladies and Gentlemen
Good morning and thank you for joining us at the launch of Community Chest Heartstrings Walk 2021 today! This year marks the tenth edition of the Walk, which has been co-organised with Marina Bay Sands (MBS). On behalf of Community Chest, I would like to thank Minister Masagos for joining us here today. I would also like to thank MBS for their invaluable partnership.
As this year’s theme Every Step Counts suggests, we hope to encourage every one of you to participate in the Walk and show your support for the social service users supported by Community Chest, as every step you take, counts.
This year, the Walk has gone digital for the first time. Participants can choose from two virtual 5km walk formats – Heartstrings Walk Marina Bay and Heartstrings Walk Anywhere. Heartstrings Walk Marina Bay engages participants in an interactive experience at five selected checkpoints around Marina Bay, like the famous Merlion Park and Helix Bridge. Heartstrings Walk Anywhere, as the name suggests, gives participants the flexibility to complete the 5km walk at a location of their choice.
The Walk aims to unite people from all walks of life, to walk as one, albeit digitally. We would especially like to thank all of you who are here with us through the Facebook live stream – the corporates and community – for showing your tremendous support for social inclusion.
In these challenging times, many social service agencies will face funding difficulties for their programmes and it is important that we continue to work towards ensuring the needs are met, even after the pandemic situation eventually improves. We are grateful for the outpouring of support and donation received from you, as we strive to make Singapore a caring and inclusive society for all.
I would like to say a big thank you to our sponsors, volunteers, corporate partners, donors and the Organising Committee members for your collective efforts to make this event possible.
So now, let’s get ready and make every step count! Have a wonderful day, everyone. Thank you.
