Scam Advisory
4 June 2025
Be Vigilant Against Scams
The National Council of Social Service (NCSS) and its entities - Community Chest and Social Service Institute will communicate with you via official channels such as e-mails, newsletters, and websites. Transactions will be conducted via Giving.sg’s donation site, Community Chest’s website or Social Service Institute’s website.
NCSS will NEVER ask you to transfer money, to provide credit card information, disclose details of bank accounts, or One-Time Passwords (OTP) via SMS, messaging apps or via phone call.
You are advised not to automatically trust anyone who can share your personal details such as identity card number. Be on your guard against callers who ask you to install mobile apps.
Beware of scammers claiming to be linked to and representing NCSS
The National Council of Social Service also does NOT endorse any kind of investment schemes. If you have been contacted by individuals to invest in such a scheme or have been subjected to threats of committing a crime for refusing to participate, IT IS A SCAM.
If you received an SMS from the government, check that it’s gov.sg
From 1 Jul 2024, government SMSes will be sent from a single Sender ID: gov.sg. Visit sms.gov.sg for more information.
