Overview

The Social Service Institute (SSI) is a centre for continuing education and training (CET) that provides funding and subsidies for both non-WSQ and Workforce Skills Qualifications (WSQ) courses. Course subsidies are available to Singaporeans and Permanent Residents (PRs) and companies may also benefit from absentee payroll support for employee training.

Workfare Skills Support (WSS)

Supports low-wage workers in training and skill development for better employment outcomes

Enhanced Training Support for SMEs

SMEs can receive additional support and subsidies to support their workforce training.

SkillsFuture Mid-Career Enhanced Subsidy

Supporting mid-career Singaporeans stay adaptable for employability through lifelong learning.

Skills and Workforce Development Agency (SWDA) Funding Scheme for Training of Organisation-Sponsored Volunteers

Volunteers sponsored by organisations may be eligible for the Skills and Workforce Development Agency (SWDA) Funding Scheme if they match the qualifying conditions. Volunteers who are not Singaporeans, PRs, or LTVP+ holders may apply for funding through PCG via OurSG Grant (OSG) portal (opens in new tab).

Party	Eligibility Criteria
Volunteers	Volunteers must: Be a Singapore citizen, PR or LTVP+ holder /or, Satisfy the minimum legal age for working in Singapore as stated by the Employment Act and in accordance with the Employment Regulations enforced by MOM. Be nominated by the Community and Social Services (CSS) Organisation they volunteer in. Have been volunteering with an eligible CSS organisation for at least three months on a regular 1 basis or, Have been accepted as a Board member of a CSS organisation with a commitment to serve at least one full term.
Community and Social Service Organisations	Be a National Council of Social Service (NCSS) sector member organisation, registered charity, Institute of Public Character (IPC), MSF funded agency or provide any of the services stated below. Children, Youth and Family Services Rehabilitation services Senior services Disability services Community mental health services. Have participated in SWDA's tracking and outcomes surveys; and, Attain at least one CSS WSQ SOA.

Volunteers

Volunteers must:

Be a Singapore citizen, PR or LTVP+ holder /or,
Satisfy the minimum legal age for working in Singapore as stated by the Employment Act and in accordance with the Employment Regulations enforced by MOM.
Be nominated by the Community and Social Services (CSS) Organisation they volunteer in.
Have been volunteering with an eligible CSS organisation for at least three months on a regular 1 basis or,
Have been accepted as a Board member of a CSS organisation with a commitment to serve at least one full term.

Community and Social Service Organisations

Be a National Council of Social Service (NCSS) sector member organisation, registered charity, Institute of Public Character (IPC), MSF funded agency or provide any of the services stated below.
- Children, Youth and Family Services
- Rehabilitation services
- Senior services
- Disability services
- Community mental health services.

Have participated in SWDA's tracking and outcomes surveys; and,
Attain at least one CSS WSQ SOA.

¹The definition of “regular basis” is subjective and differs according to the organisation. It can depend on the type of service and set-up. Volunteering commitments would be considered as regular if the volunteer serves for at least 4 hours a month for a minimum 3-months period.

SkillsFuture Credit

SkillsFuture Credit supports individuals in taking charge of their skills development and lifelong learning. All Singaporeans aged 25 and above receive an initial S$500 credit to offset approved skills-related courses. These credits do not expire, with periodic top-ups provided by the government.

Self-funded individuals can use their SkillsFuture Credit alongside Skills and Workforce Development Agency (SWDA) funding to offset course fees, while organisation-sponsored learners are not eligible. Visit the SkillsFuture Credit website (opens in new tab) to explore available courses.

Organisation-sponsored learners are not eligible to tap on the SkillsFuture Credit to offset the nett programme or course fee.
