Chief Executive Officer, Allkin Singapore
Mohamed Fareez is recognised for his lifelong dedication to social justice and transformative leadership in family services, poverty alleviation, and community development. His social work journey spans reintegration support, mental health, senior services, Children and Youth Services, and Family Service Centres (FSCs).
He led the development of Allkin’s first Family Resource Centre, marking its entry into restorative services, and integrated psychological services into FSC and student programmes. He also developed holistic support systems for children facing complex challenges. His Bakery Hearts Programme introduced 'flex-ployment' to help low-income women gain financial independence through flexible, skills-based work.
Today, the programme is a key component of Allkin’s community development strategy. Fareez has shaped national frameworks including the Ministry of Social and Family Development’s (MSF) Group Work Practice Guide, Family and Adult Support Tool Manual, and Strengthening Families Together Practitioners’ Resource. He also served on Allkin’s Emergency Outbreak Management Taskforce during COVID-19, ensuring service continuity and staff well-being.
An international faculty member at the Dulwich Centre, Fareez is a prolific contributor to social work literature. His grief intervention tool “The Life Certificate” was published in the International Journal of Narrative Therapy and Community Work. He co-edited “Learning by Doing” (2024) and co-developed Onigiri Feelings, a resource on emotional literacy presented at the Social Work Academia-Practice Symposium 2024.
Fareez has also led the Narrative Therapy Community of Practice, revised the Singapore Association of Social Workers Code of Ethics, and served as MSF Practice Leader for FSC Code of Social Work Practice. His sectoral leadership extends to roles with the National University of Health System Institutional Review Board, National Council on Problem Gambling, Care Network Workgroup, and as Associate Faculty at Singapore University of Social Sciences. As a testament to his outstanding service, he has received the Promising Social Worker Award (2011) and Prime Minister’s Social Service Award (2012).
For his ethical leadership, innovation, and mentorship, Fareez is awarded the Excellence Award 2025.
