Senior Music Therapist, Assisi Hospice
Tammy Lim is recognised for her dedication to palliative care and her pioneering efforts in expanding music therapy for patients with life-limiting illnesses. As the founding music therapist at Assisi Hospice, she has developed holistic, patient-centred services across inpatient care, day hospice, homecare, and bereavement support.
Tammy’s work uses music as a tool for dignity, comfort, and emotional expression—through legacy songwriting, live bedside music, and creative community activities like music bingo and drum circles. Her programmes bring relief and connection to patients and families, enriching the hospice experience.
Her innovations include a first-of-its-kind music therapy programme for patients with chronic lung disease, supporting them through breathwork, singing, and guided relaxation. By creating a structured referral process, she empowered healthcare professionals to seamlessly integrate music therapy into patient care, generating over 150 referrals annually.
Beyond clinical practice, Tammy leads the Community of Practice for Palliative Care under the Association for Music Therapy Singapore, mentors peers, and contributes to the national Music Therapy Symposium—unifying the profession, strengthening best practices, and championing evidence-based care.
Through her vision, compassion, and leadership, she continues to redefine how music therapy enriches lives. For her outstanding contributions to palliative care, Tammy is awarded the Merit Award 2025.
