A Framework for Lasting Recovery
16 June 2026
Recovery from addiction takes time, consistent support, and a community to come back to.
NCSS has provided funding to WE CARE Community Services for more than 15 years to fill those gaps. With NCSS’ support, WE CARE has brought together crisis support, assessment, therapy, and long-term care in one joined-up, non-residential programme. People get help at every stage of their recovery — and the support is affordable, making it accessible to those who need it most.
Strengthening Recovery Through Integration
By treating addiction as a mental health condition and not as a one-time crisis, WE CARE helps people get support earlier and stay engaged longer. In FY25, WE CARE supported 979 service users, exceeding its target. Among clients who participated in WE CARE's counselling programme, 89% experienced an increased sense of social support in their recovery journey, while 79% reported improvements in their personal well-being, interpersonal relationships, and general life functioning.
Jat’s Journey to Recovery

Jat, Communications and Events Executive at WE CARE Community Services
For Jat, years of cross-addiction to gambling and drugs meant a constant cycle of chasing losses, managing withdrawals and starting again. This affected his finances, relationships and sense of self. Despite knowing better, he found it impossible to stop on his own.
In 2022, he walked into WE CARE for help. Through counselling, recovery support groups and activities at the drop-in centre, he found a community that understood what he was going through. He learned to recognise his triggers and gained the tools to manage them.
This year, Jat will celebrate 4 years of sobriety. He has cleared his debts, rebuilt his relationships, and completed a second diploma with a 4.0 GPA. He now works in WE CARE’s communications team, helping others understand addiction and that recovery is possible.
I walked into WE CARE defeated. Now, my reality is beyond my wildest dreams.— Jat, Communications and Events Executive at WE CARE Community Services
