Jazz's Journey: From Grief to Hope
14 January 2026
With WiShine, Jazz and her children received the help and support they needed to heal and rebuild.

When Jazz lost her husband suddenly to cancer in 2022, her world turned upside down. As a stay-at-home mum, she had never handled the family finances or managed household affairs alone. Now, while grieving deeply, she had to learn everything from scratch, from paying bills, managing money, to making important decisions for her family.
The pressure was overwhelming – Jazz felt guilty that she couldn't give her children, including her son who has special needs, the attention they needed during this difficult time. She was drowning in responsibilities while trying to process her own heartbreak.
That's when Jazz found Wicare. Through their WiShine counselling programme and Rainbow support group, Jazz and her children received the help they desperately needed. Professional counsellors guided them through their grief and practical workshops taught Jazz essential life skills she had never needed before. Most importantly, she discovered she wasn't alone; other families were facing similar struggles.

As Jazz began to heal, something beautiful happened. She started reaching out to other widows, sharing what she had learned and offering a listening ear to women just beginning their own difficult journeys. In giving back, her pain had transformed into purpose.
Today, Jazz helps other widows navigate the overwhelming challenges of sudden loss. She understands the sleepless nights worrying about money, the guilt of not being able to comfort grieving children, and the fear of facing an uncertain future alone.
Jazz's story shows us that with the right support, people can not only survive life's hardest moments, but they can become sources of strength for others.
Community Chest helps fund programmes like WiShine, giving families like Jazz's the support they need to heal and rebuild. Together, we can ensure no family faces their darkest hour alone.
