With the right support, Joel found his footing, rebuilt his confidence, and discovered a strength he never knew he had.
Constant bullying in primary school left Joel emotionally vulnerable, reacting strongly even to small triggers. As he entered his teenage years, he became easily influenced and frequently got into fights, putting his future at risk.
Everything began to change when Joel discovered 4PM, an organisation dedicated to supporting youths-at-risk. With the steady guidance of his social worker, Nazmi, Joel began to see that a different path was possible.
Over nearly a year in 4PM’s Frenz Mentoring Programme, supported by Community Chest, Joel developed a strong bond with Nazmi. More than a counsellor, Nazmi became a steady source of encouragement, helping Joel navigate challenges and stay focused on his goals.

Today, Joel is a transformed young man. With greater confidence and emotional control, he is less anxious in social settings and has thrived in his part-time retail role. More importantly, he has chosen to give back - volunteering as a mentor at Frenz to support youths facing similar struggles.
Joel’s journey is a powerful reminder that with the right support, every young person can overcome adversity and build a brighter future. Through Community Chest’s support, programmes like Frenz continue to empower youths to realise their potential.
