When Gloria’s son Kyle turned 18, she began thinking about what his future might look like and how he could lead a life that was both meaningful and dignified. Kyle is on the autism spectrum, and like many others with similar needs, finding a place in today’s competitive job market can be challenging.

The Ministry of Social and Family Development's Disability Trends Report 2024 shows that only 32.7% of Singaporean adults with disabilities aged 15–64 were employed in 2022/2023.

That is why Community Chest supports programmes through the Employability and Employment Centre (E2C) by Autism Resource Centre (Singapore). E2C helps adults with autism build job skills and connects them with suitable employment opportunities.

With the support of his job coach Sylvia, Kyle was guided to develop both the hard and soft skills needed for the workforce. This structured training and support culminated in his successful placement as a pharmacy assistant at Singapore General Hospital (SGH). With Sylvia’s guidance and support from his colleagues and supervisors at SGH, Kyle is thriving both at work and in his personal life
