Putera Rafa'el

Putera Rafa’el is an 11-year-old student diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder-Intellectual Disability. He joined MINDS Woodlands Gardens School (WGS) in February 2023 when he was 8 years old, after transitioning from a mainstream kindergarten. Since then, he has made commendable progress in his personal development, demonstrating strong character, leadership potential, and a passion for sports.

Based on his preferences, interests and strengths as observed during lessons including PE, Putera was placed in Sports Squad CCA. He is a cheerful and determined boy who always strives to do his best. He trains with dedication at Woodlands Stadium, works hard to improve his skills, and encourages his friends during training. He shows a positive attitude and is always willing to learn from the coach.

Putera’s sporting achievements have been notable. He participated in the 2025 Special Olympics National Games’ 100-metre race and was placed second. He also represented WGS at the 2026 National School Games (Para Events), where he won a bronze medal in the 60-metre dash.

Beyond sports, Putera’s sense of responsibility and leadership potential became evident through his day-to-day interactions and completion of tasks, leading to his nomination and appointment as a school prefect in 2025. As a prefect, he demonstrates strong leadership qualities through his positive attitude, helpfulness, and responsible behaviour. He is consistently well-behaved and serves as a good role model for his peers, performing his prefect duties daily with great pride. He is proactive, extends kindness, and willingly helps peers and teachers whenever needed. He is always ready to guide peers along the corridor and greets school staff respectfully. Through resilience and consistent practice, he also overcame his shyness on stage to lead the school in the recitation of the national pledge confidently.
