Suhaida has hearing loss, and for a long time, finding meaningful employment felt out of reach. Job interviews were particularly overwhelming, especially when she had to face potential employers alone. There were moments when she genuinely doubted whether she could secure a job at all. 

That changed when she was connected with Carmen through SPD's employment support programme. Carmen, whose son is on the autism spectrum, brings first-hand understanding of how easily opportunities can be closed off when support is missing. Communicating through text and writing, the two built trust one message at a time. 

With Carmen and an interpreter by her side during interviews, Suhaida found the reassurance she needed to show up with confidence. When employers asked about her capabilities, she was clear and assured about what she could bring to the role. 

Today, Suhaida is employed and thriving in her role. With a steady income, she can support her parents and take steps towards financial independence—creating a positive ripple effect for her family.
