“As counsellors, we journey with our clients, really wanting to increase their self-awareness and emphasize to our clients that they do have some level of power and control over their lives…”

In our latest story from Stories from the Heart initiative, we would like to share about empowerment. Ms Tan Jui Wei, a Rehabilitation Counsellor of Integrated Employment Services from Singapore Anglican Community Services (SACS), believes in empowering persons with mental health conditions reintegrate back into society through employment support. In her position, she is a critical catalyst between PMHCs and employers by equipping them with the required skills and knowledge to sustain employment. We believe by empowering the community, it can increase quality of life.

In this video you will also learn how SACs applied the Social Service Strategic Thrusts (4ST) roadmap in their programmes. 4ST was first launched in 2017 as a five-year strategic roadmap for the social service sector. It presented a shared vision and guidance for the sector in achieving the vision where every person is empowered to live with dignity in a caring and inclusive society.
