#𝗗𝗼𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗞𝗻𝗼𝘄 the Singapore social service sector employs more than 15,000 people such as Social Workers, Therapists, Psychologists and Special Education Teachers? Mr Karthik shares his experience as one of our many social service sector professionals in our latest edition in #StoriesfromtheHeart series. He started as an Occupational Therapist in 2007, under AWWA’s Community Integration Service (CIS) and is currently the CEO of AWWA.
Started in 1991 AWWA’s CIS supports the integration of children and youth with physical disabilities and low vision into their schools and community by providing many services such as psychological intervention and independent living skills training.
Mr Karthik also introduced several transformational initiatives in technology and advocacy, bringing AWWA to the next level in meeting the ever evolving needs of its clients. The 2016 awardee of the Social Service Fellowship from the National Council of Social Service shared that, “I hope that more people join the sector and see that they can have a meaningful career.”
