Volunteer Engagement Tool 2019 Consolidated Sector Report

Year Published 2020

The Volunteer Engagement Tool (VET) is an online tool for SSAs to measure their volunteer satisfaction in a more efficient manner. This tool provides SSAs with a unique link to the survey and access to the dashboard to view their responses. The questions asked in the survey maps to the Volunteer Management Framework (VMF), allowing SSAs to understand their level of volunteer satisfaction in different areas. Targeted improvements in volunteer management can then be made to boost volunteer satisfaction and retention.

From August to November 2019, 28 SSAs participated in this project, implementing this tool in their organisation. Collectively, they received a total of 1,113 responses from volunteers. The responses have hence been collated, forming the basis for this sectoral report on volunteer satisfaction. The aggregated results show that volunteers are generally satisfied with their respective agencies and volunteering role and show an inclination to continue volunteering. The motivation mainly revolves around the belief and appreciation of the work done by the agency and word of mouth is a primary channel for recruitment. This report also shows the key steps of the VMF which will influence satisfaction and some opportunities to improve volunteer satisfaction.
