Serene Cheng, a Volunteer Manager from Filos, shares that her motivation to join the social service sector as a Volunteer Manager stemmed from her humble background where she could not afford additional educational support. She recalled a “traumatising experience” due to the lack of language development and she hopes to be able to help more children and family in need through what she does.
By sharing her journey, Serene also likes hopes to raise awareness to on what being a volunteer manager or volunteer entails as opposed to the common perception of the role of volunteer by others .
